What is drone tile roof cleaning?+
A tethered industrial drone — flown by an FAA Part 107 commercial pilot — carries a low-pressure soft-wash spray head fed by a ground pump. Biodegradable detergent is misted over the tile, dwells 5–15 minutes to kill algae and lichen at the root, then a pure-water rinse sheets the dead growth off. The drone never lands on the roof and no one walks the tile.
Why is barrel tile especially vulnerable to foot traffic?+
Barrel tile is hollow — air space below the curved profile. The tile is engineered to carry distributed load from above but not point load from a foot placed in the wrong spot. Eagle, Boral, and Ludowici warranties explicitly call out foot traffic as a damage cause and void coverage where the damage is traced to walking the roof.
What tile brands and types do you clean?+
Every major Miami tile system: Eagle, Boral, Ludowici, Entegra, Crown, US Tile, MCA, and Vande Hey Raleigh. Profiles include barrel/Spanish-S, flat concrete tile, low-profile, and clay tile. Chemistry is matched to glaze type — what works on glazed barrel is dialed differently for unglazed clay.
Does soft-wash damage the tile glaze?+
No. Pressure washing strips the protective glaze; soft-wash chemistry does not. The detergent works on the surface biological growth, not the glaze itself. Glazed tile stays glazed after cleaning — and the glaze is what makes future cleanings easier.
How does drone cleaning handle steep tile pitches?+
Pitch is irrelevant to a drone. The drone hovers at the same distance from the surface regardless of slope, so a 12/12 pitch is no harder than a 4/12. This is one of the biggest advantages over ground crews, who have to rig fall protection for anything over 6/12.
How long do drone tile roof cleaning results last in Miami?+
24–48 months before visible algae return on Miami tile, depending on tree cover, shade, and oceanfront exposure. Pressure washing on the same tile lasts roughly 6 months because the algae spores survive and recolonize. The chemistry, not the pressure, drives the duration.
How much does drone tile roof cleaning cost in Miami?+
$0.30–$0.55 per square foot. A typical 2,500 sqft residential barrel tile roof runs $800–$1,400. HOA communities get multi-roof portfolio pricing — a single mobilization covers multiple buildings, which significantly reduces per-roof cost.
Will soft-wash hurt my landscaping or pool?+
No. Detergents are biodegradable. We pre-wet landscaping below the roof line before chemistry application — runoff is diluted on contact. Pool decks and pool water are rinsed clean of any overspray as part of the workflow.
What about HVAC condensers on tile roofs?+
HVAC units are pre-wet before soft-wash application — diluting any overspray that reaches the condenser coil. The unit fan can stay running during cleaning. There's no chemistry concentration that reaches the coil at a strength capable of corroding it.
How long does a tile roof cleaning project take?+
Residential barrel tile roof: 1–3 hours. Multi-roof HOA portfolio: 1–3 days for the full community. The drone moves faster than a ground crew because there's no ladder work, no rope rigging, and no walking the roof.
What insurance do you carry for tile roof work?+
We carry $2M commercial general liability plus dedicated UAS (drone) liability and hull coverage. COIs naming the homeowner, property manager, or HOA are issued before mobilization on every project.
Do you need FAA permission to fly over residential tile roofs?+
Yes. Every flight is conducted under FAA Part 107 by a licensed commercial drone pilot. For controlled airspace near MIA, FLL, and PBI we file LAANC airspace authorizations before mobilization.
